Every LinkedIn ad needs an image. You can generate one from a short description, upload your own, or pick one you’ve used before. All of them live in one library at Advertising → Images, alongside your logos and product shots.

Generate an image on the campaign form

On a campaign, click Generate next to the default image or any ad. The Generate an ad image dialog shows the credit cost before you start.
1

Describe the image

Fill in What should the image show? Add On-image text (optional) if you want words on the picture. That text is used exactly as you write it, with nothing added.
2

Set the look

Add a Style (optional), such as “dark navy, our logo colours”. Under Use company images, pick up to three of your logos or product shots to use as references. Your company profile logo is always sent too, and its colours guide the image.
3

Choose the format

Pick a Placement (LinkedIn feed, square or vertical), how many Options you want, and the Model: Higher quality or Quicker.
4

Generate and pick

Click Generate, then choose the option to attach.
You can also Upload image to use your own file, or click Choose from library to reuse one.

Built-in quality check

Before an image is saved, Alva checks it. If a headline or logo is clipped, or a person is cut off by the frame, the image is drawn again automatically, up to two more times. If none pass, nothing is saved and you’re told why. You aren’t charged for attempts that fail the check.

One image per ad, or one for all

The campaign has a Default image. Each of the three ads can have its own picture with Upload image (or Replace image), Generate or Choose from library. An ad without its own image uses the default, and if there’s no default, your company logo is used. The feed preview on the campaign page shows each ad with its image.
Pause a live campaign before changing its images. The next preview sends the new picture to LinkedIn.

The image library

Advertising → Images has two tabs.
  • Ad images: every image you’ve generated or uploaded. Delete removes an image from the library. If a campaign still uses it, the file is kept so the ad keeps working.
  • Company images: logos, product shots and other pictures that Alva uses as references. Drop several files at once, then give each one a name and a kind: Logo, Product or Other.
Every image is tagged automatically with what it shows (subject, setting, objects and any text), and the tags appear on each card. That’s how Alva finds the right image when you describe it in chat.
Upload your logo on the Company images tab and mark it as Logo. Your ads show your LinkedIn Page with that logo; without one, they show a letter instead.

Images in chat

Ask Alva for an ad image and it first searches your library. If something fits, it shows up to three matches and asks whether to use one. If nothing fits, it offers to create one. Alva can:
  • Generate an image from a brief, or three variations so each ad gets a different one.
  • Edit an existing image, for example to change only the headline.
  • Attach an image to a campaign or to one ad.
  • Find images by what they show, rename or retag a company image, add or remove tags, and delete images.
Alva describes each new image from its quality check: the headline as it reads, the logo, and whether the scene matches the brief. Alva doesn’t quote image credit costs in chat; the cost is shown on the campaign form’s Generate dialog. Uploading files and downloading images happen on the Images page, so Alva sends you there for those.

Ask Alva

  • “Make an image for the CFO campaign: a finance team reviewing a dashboard, with the headline ‘Close the month in three days’.”
  • “Give me three variations and put one on each ad.”
  • “Same image, but change the headline to ‘Cut month-end in half’.”
  • “Do we have any images of warehouses?”
  • “Use our product shot of the control panel as a reference.”
  • “Tag the rooftop image with ‘solar’.”
