The Focus page is your daily action list. It surfaces everything that needs your attention right now — commitments you’ve made, items that are overdue, and nudges from Alva about things you might be overlooking. You’ll find it in the sidebar under Focus, or navigate to it directly from the dashboard.

What appears in Focus

Focus pulls together two types of items:

Commitments

Commitments are things you’ve said you’ll do — promises to prospects, follow-up tasks, internal action items. You can create commitments on any deal, company, or contact record, either:
  • From the Commitments section on a record’s detail page
  • Via the inline add bar (type a quick commitment and press Enter)
  • Via the full form (for setting due dates, assignees, and details)
  • By asking Alva: “Remind me to send the proposal to Sarah by Friday”
Each commitment has:
  • A title — what needs to be done
  • A due date — when it’s due (optional but recommended)
  • An assignee — who’s responsible (defaults to you)
  • A status — open or completed

Nudges

Nudges are proactive suggestions from Alva — things the AI thinks you should pay attention to but that you haven’t explicitly committed to. These might include:
  • A deal that’s been quiet for too long
  • A contact you haven’t followed up with
  • A risk signal that’s appeared in your pipeline
Nudges have a priority level and a suggested action, so you know how urgent they are and what to do about them.

How Focus is organised

The page groups items by urgency:

Overdue

Commitments past their due date. These appear at the top with a red flag — they’re your highest priority.

Due today

Commitments due today, shown with an amber marker.

Nudges

AI-generated suggestions, ordered by priority.

Upcoming

Commitments due in the future — visible so you can plan ahead.

The “all caught up” state

When you have no active commitments or nudges, Focus shows a clear confirmation that nothing needs your attention. This is the goal — get to zero.

Completing commitments

Click the checkbox next to any commitment to mark it as done. Completed commitments disappear from Focus immediately. You can also complete commitments from the record they’re attached to (e.g. from the deal detail page) or by telling Alva: “Mark the Acme proposal commitment as done.”
Focus works best when you create commitments with due dates. Without a due date, a commitment still appears in Focus but can’t be sorted by urgency.

Where commitments live

Commitments aren’t just on the Focus page — they also appear on the detail pages of the records they’re linked to. If you create a commitment on a deal, it shows up both in Focus and on that deal’s page. This means your team can see commitments in context (on the deal) and in aggregate (on Focus).
