Pulse keeps you up to date with your sector. You give it news topics and websites to watch, and every day it collects what’s new, explains why each story matters to your business, and suggests angles you can use in outreach and advertising. A daily digest email brings the highlights to your inbox.
Pulse needs the Pro plan. Open it from Pulse under Tools in the sidebar.

Setting up your watchlist

Open the Watchlist tab. Pulse opens here until you’ve added something to watch.

Topics

A topic is a news search. Click Add a topic and give it:
  • Name — e.g. “Heat pump news”
  • Search — what to look for in the news, e.g. “UK heat pump grant changes”
  • Countries — leave them all unticked for a global search, or tick up to five countries you sell in
You can follow up to 15 topics.

Websites

A website is a page Pulse reads for you, such as a trade publication. Click Add a website and enter its Name and Address. You can follow up to 10 websites. Use the switch beside any topic or website to pause or resume it. Removing one asks you to confirm; stories it has already found stay in your feed.
Not sure what to watch? Ask Alva: “Suggest some Pulse topics for my market.” Alva searches the web first, suggests topics and publications that fit your business, and only adds the ones you accept.

The feed

The Feed tab shows stories from the past month, with the most relevant first. Each story has:
  • Headline and a short summary
  • Why it matters — what the story means for your business
  • Relevance score — from 0 to 100, based on how relevant it is to you
  • Angles — suggested ways to use it, labelled by type, such as Outreach, Ad, or Landing page
Only stories with a publication date in the past 30 days are included, and the same story is never shown twice. Low-relevance stories don’t get angles.

Working with angles

On each angle you can:
  • Draft outreach (or Draft in Alva for ad and landing page ideas) — opens Alva with the angle and story, ready to write a draft. Nothing is sent or published from Pulse; Alva shows you the draft first.
  • Save — move the angle to your Saved angles list
  • Dismiss angle — remove it
Use Dismiss story to remove a story you don’t care about. Dismissed stories and angles aren’t suggested again.

Saved angles

The Saved angles tab is your working list. Drag angles to set their priority — the top one is the most important. Unsave an angle to put it back on its story. A saved angle stays even if you dismiss its story.

Daily digest

The Digest tab controls the daily email:
  • Email a daily digest — on by default
  • Hour and Timezone — when Pulse checks for new stories each day (07:00 London time by default)
  • Who receives the digest — account admins by default, or the teammates you choose
The digest shows up to eight stories, highest relevance first, each with its summary, why it matters, and its angles, plus an Open Pulse button. Recipients also get an in-app notification. If nothing new turns up, no email is sent. Click Run now at the top of the page to check for new stories straight away.

Costs and budget

Each news search and each story summary uses credits. Set a monthly limit for Pulse under Settings → AI. Pulse also needs some credit in your account to run.

Pulse and Signals

Pulse tells you what’s happening in your market. If you want Alva to find the companies something has just happened to — and add them to your CRM — use Signals (closed beta).

Managing Pulse with Alva

Ask Alva:
  • “Add a Pulse topic for UK solar subsidies.”
  • “What’s new in Pulse today?”
  • “Save that angle and move it to the top.”
  • “Send the Pulse digest to Sam as well.”
  • “Draft an email from my top saved angle.”
