Strategy documents give Alva deep understanding of your business direction — your go-to-market approach, growth priorities, competitive positioning, and long-term goals. The master document is included in every Alva conversation, making it the most influential piece of context in the system.

Viewing your strategy documents

Go to Context → Strategy to see all your strategy documents. Each document shows its title, type, and when it was last updated.

Creating a strategy document

Click New Document to create a strategy document manually, or ask Alva to help:
  • “Help me write a go-to-market strategy document”
  • “Create a competitive positioning document based on our pipeline data”
Each document has:
  • Title — what the document covers
  • Content — the strategy content itself (rich text)
  • Type — the category of strategy (go-to-market, competitive, growth, etc.)

The master document

One strategy document is designated as the master. This is the document that Alva reads in every conversation. It should be your most comprehensive strategic overview — covering your market position, growth priorities, target segments, and key objectives. Other documents are available to Alva on request but aren’t automatically included in every conversation.

AI-suggested updates

As your pipeline evolves and Alva learns from your data, it may suggest updates to your strategy documents. These appear as suggestions you can review and accept — for example:
  • “Based on your pipeline data, healthcare now represents 40% of your deals. Consider updating your target market section.”
  • “Three deals were lost to [Competitor X] this quarter. You may want to update your competitive positioning.”

Editing and permissions

Strategy documents can be edited by admins and managers. Sales reps can read them but not modify them. This ensures your strategic direction is set by leadership and consistently understood by the team.
Keep your master strategy document concise and current. Alva reads it in every conversation, so out-of-date strategy leads to out-of-date advice. Aim for 1–2 pages of clear, actionable strategic direction.
